First Day of Preschool!

This has been a busy week for us and we've experienced many exciting "firsts!" Today (Thurs), Noah started back to school, which isn't really exciting in itself, except that this is his 2nd to last quarter until he is officially completely done with school--yippee! On Wednesday, it was the first day of MOPS (Mother's of Preschoolers), which I am co-coordinating this year. It has been a crazy few weeks as we've been preparing for the kickoff this week and I am happy to report that the first day went exceptionally well!

Probably, the most exciting event for me as a mom took place on Tuesday when Keira and I started her Mommy & Me preschool class at a local Christian preschool! And now, for the pictures...

Ready for the first day of school!

Is it possible that my baby girl is already so big?!

Posing in front of her classroom!

A teacher walked by and offered to take a picture of both of us!

I didn't have my camera with me on the playground, but that's where we started the morning. The playground was super fun with lots of equipment! Keira loved the tire swing, climbing structure, slide, and bubble table.

After we went inside, we had a large group activity with a welcome song and a few other songs and then it was time for free play! There were stations/activities set out all around the room and Keira had so much fun exploring everything!

First stop: the play-doh table!

This is so much fun!!

I could hardly tear her away from the play-doh table, but once she moved on, it was time for painting! When I asked what she painted, she said, "TREE!"

There were lots of fun puzzles and fine motor activities at this table. She loved telling me each shape as she put it on the pegs.

This is the "Texture Walk" where she walked in/across each surface and we talked about how it felt on her feet. So fun! Her favorite was the box of shredded paper, especially since it stuck to her feet and made a big mess when I tried to get her out of the box!

When she's helping me with the laundry at home, she always likes to put the socks on her hands. So, she giggled with glee when she put socks on her hands to try to do these puzzles!

This is harder than it looks!

Scooping, pouring, dumping--so fun!

At the end of free play, it was time to wash up and have snack. The kids sat on one side of the room at tables to eat snack (with a teacher to help) while all the moms sat on the other side of the room for a discussion time with the other teacher. Keira did awesome sitting with her peers to eat her snack.

At the end of class, we did more large group activities, such as singing, dancing, instruments, etc.

Overall, the morning was super fun! It was really great because I was able to tell Keira on the way over that she was going to school and that Mommy was going to be with her. So, once we arrived, she initially seemed to be a little apprehensive, but as I reassured her that I was going to stay at school with her, she relaxed a lot and was really able to participate in a lot of activities and she seemed to really enjoy herself! I am so glad we signed up for this program and I am excited to see the learning and growth that takes place for Keira. We are not sure if we'll send her to a drop-off preschool after she turns 3; if we do, this will be a great stepping stone for that and if we don't, this will be a great time of enrichment for both of us!

Keira's Favorite Color

We have basically made the conclusion that Keira's favorite color is blue. Whenever she has the option to make a color choice for something, she always tends to pick blue. When we were at a friend's birthday party, she got to choose a ball to take home and she picked the blue one...when we were at a restaurant and she got to pick a balloon, she chose the blue one. You get the picture.

So, yesterday morning Noah was going through his closet to select a shirt to wear with his black dress pants and jacket. Normally, he doesn't have a reason to dress so formally (well, what we would consider formal anyway!), but he was preparing to attend a special ceremony at church as the event photographer.

Noah tried on a tan shirt while Keira curiously watched the process unfold. Apparently, she saw several other shirts in the closet and said "blue one" as she tugged on the sleeve. Noah pulled it out and asked, "Do you want me to wear the blue one?" "Yes!" she said. He tried it on and she seemed happy with the result.

Of course, what Dad is going to disagree with this type of request from his sweet 2-year-old little girl?!

Of course he wore the blue one!
Looking good, Daddy!

P.S. I will be finishing the Hawaii posts soon! Just had to throw in this cute story! :)
