The Weather is Beautiful, Wish You Were Here

Blogger has changed on me since my last post, so I really hope this works!

We are finishing up Day 3 of our Utah road trip & we are having a great time! This is just a quick post to share a few pictures.  These were taken from my camera, and, unfortunately, all the amazing pictures from Noah's camera will have to be posted after we get home.

So, we left on Friday morning and made the approximately 8-hr drive to Springdale, UT, which is just outside of Zion National Park. Keira did an AWESOME job on the drive! We had a long stop-over for lunch, which was a nice break, but after that, she was in the car for about 5 hours straight! Thankfully, she had a 1+ hr nap along the way!

I hope she knows how to read that map so she can tell us where we're going!

On Saturday morning, Keira and I spent a few hours together while Noah went in to Zion to do a more extensive hike without us. Just down the road from our hotel was a city park and it was amazing! We had the whole park to ourselves for a while (we wish our friends were there to play with us!!) and Keira loved all the great playground toys and the view was incredible!!

Climbing on giant rocks is fun too!

Around lunchtime, Keira and I made our way into Zion and met up with Noah. The three of us did 2 hikes together (Noah has most of these pictures, which I'll share later).

The first hike was along the Virgin River and we ended up at this beautiful spot. Keira LOVED throwing rocks into the water!

She loved throwing rocks with Daddy, too!

This morning (Sunday), we left Zion and drove about 2 hours to Bryce Canyon. We spent the day exploring the canyon with it's amazing views and crazy rock formations (known as "hoodoos"). Keira did an awesome job hiking about 1+ miles along the canyon rim trail! After driving along to see the rest of the viewpoints (Daddy drove and stopped to take pictures while Keira & Mommy napped in the car!), we had a good dinner at the Bryce Canyon Lodge. It was a full and fun day and we're all exhausted!

Love to all our family and friends!!!

Easter Happenings!

This Spring has been filled with so many fun activities!
The pictures below tell the story...

At Friend School, we learned all about eggs!
Wow, there are many different types of eggs!

Looking at "naked eggs" with a flashlight
(the shell was dissolved with vinegar)

Observing naked eggs and hard-boiled eggs

Grammy was visiting that week and got to help make the Easter egg craft!

Decorating the foam Easter eggs

Balancing eggs on a spoon

They all loved this activity!
(Marisela, thanks for the picture!!)

Collecting (hoarding?) eggs!

Matching egg patterns

At another Friend School, we learned all about bunnies!
Keira is hard at work!

The final product that she gave to Aunt Laura!

Easter egg hunting time!!!

Marshmallow bunnies!
She is so excited!!

These girls are loving their goodies!

The Friend School gang!

Is it a bunny or a duck?

We had another Easter celebration with our playgroup!

There were lots of yummy snacks and lots of sunshine!

Ready, set, go!

More Easter loot!

The kids exploring all the goodies in their eggs

Showing me her find: goldfish!

All the playgroup kiddos!

For Easter weekend, we made the long drive up to Davis to be with Nana, Aunt Laura, and Uncle Jonathan. We left after Noah got off work on Friday night and drove up to stay overnight at Aunt Sue's house. After a little visiting and a great breakfast, we packed up and continued the drive up to Davis and arrived at lunchtime on Saturday afternoon.

Keira was thrilled to see everyone and immediately jumped right in to playing with her relatives!

Daddy and Uncle Jonathan spent a few hours in the afternoon doing mountain biking and the girls stayed home for some Easter egg fun.

She wanted to draw with a marker just like her Aunt Laura

On Sunday morning, Nana prepared a yummy breakfast of sausage & egg casserole and pecan rolls. Delicious!
At all the meals, Keira wanted to sit as close to her Aunt Laura as possible. :)

After breakfast, Keira got to open her Easter gift from Nana

She got some fun new books and this pink & purple toothbrush, which she loves!

Next, it was time to go on a hunt for her Easter basket from the "pretend" Easter bunny.
Reading the first clue

Found the next egg!

Another clue!

At last, the final prize!

A new umbrella of her own!
Can you tell she's excited about it?!

It's a dragonfly!

Oooh, candy!

After a great church service, we came back to Nana's for a wonderful lunch, time with friends, and several Easter egg hunts!

Keira has recently discovered the art of "twirling" and this Easter dress was just the right style for lots of twirling!

Hard at work on the fruit salad

This is Nana's tortoise, Bongo. Up until this moment, he had been hibernating in the garage.
Wake up, Bongo! Spring is here!

Jack does not know what to make of the strange creature!

Time for egg hunt #1

All that activity can wear a girl out!

Willy, always ready for some fun!

After a little power nap, it was time for more egg hunting!

On Monday morning, we left Davis and made the drive back home to San Diego.
On our way down, we stopped off in Visalia and had lunch with Grammy.
It was a short, but fun visit and great to get a break from driving!

Tossing Grammy's spare change into the fountain!

We had a great time celebrating Easter with family and friends this year!
We hope you had a blessed Easter too!

Happy Easter!
He is Risen!
