This past week we had Friend School at our house again and the theme was rainbows!
I was so excited to introduce the topic to the kiddos because I pretty much love everything that has to do with rainbows!
The night before, Keira was a big helper as we sorted all the fruit loops in preparation for the rainbow craft!
Starting out with opening circle songs!
We missed Cameron that day, but Katelyn was excited to take his spot on the mat!
And then mamas help tape on the streamers!
Who can't resist sneaking a few bites when the craft involves Fruit Loops?!
Yum!
After crafts, it was time for a yummy snack: rainbow goldfish!
And a few extra fruit loops for good measure!
After snack time, we went on a "rainbow hike" and the kids did a great job identifying the colors of the rainbow from various objects in the environment (e.g. red stop sign, orange flowers, green grass, etc.).
After the hike and some playtime at the playground, we came back inside for activity time!
The kids LOVED this activity where they made rainbows out of pipe cleaners and play-doh "clouds." So fun!
Smiling as they work...
...and concentrating so hard!
The finished product!
Another activity was finger painting!
Unfortunately, the weather was a little cool outside, so we couldn't do this outdoors. Instead, I moved it to the kitchen, but, being the "mess-a-phobe" that I am, I kept everything controlled so that paint did not end up everywhere in the kitchen!
Ethan got to go first and Keira & Ella had to wait patiently outside the gate (so sad!).
Painting a rainbow!
Ella's turn!
Keira's turn!
Despite the potential for a huge mess, this activity went fairly well and the kids seemed to enjoy it!
At the end of the morning, all the kiddos got to take home a rainbow-colored flower lei!
We all had such a fun morning!!
Many thanks to my photographer, Mackenzie!
And big thanks to Laura for all the great rainbow ideas!!
