Music & Movement

Keira has always loved music and dancing. When she was really young (can't remember how old she was now, but I think before she turned 2), we put a CD player in her room and Noah taught her how to put the CDs in and play them. She caught on quickly and would often pick out a CD and play it all by herself and then start dancing around the room (she still does this now!).

I have wanted to enroll her in dance classes and music lessons, but thought she was still too young for formal training at this point. We will likely look into dance classes after she is 3 and music a little later on. However, last week, we attended a free music and movement class at the local library, put on by a local dance company.

I thought Keira would love it, but I was so surprised that she jumped right in and danced her little heart out the whole time! Usually, she is pretty timid in new situations and especially in large groups. But there was no stopping her at this class!

Waiting for instructions from Miss B

This little girl attached herself to Keira and wanted to sit as close to her as possible!

Warming up
(practicing "swimming strokes" to stretch out)

Bear crawls
(she does this all around the house now)

Boogie down!

Finished with the obstacle course!

She was so focused on watching the teacher and copying everything she did! I took lots of video, but unfortunately they're all too long for blogger to handle.
Next time I'll try to record shorter clips!

Another favorite musical activity (for both of us!) is attending Hullabaloo shows! Typically, Keira will watch Mr. Steve intently as he plays the songs, but today, she danced the WHOLE time!

If this picture doesn't shout PURE FUN, I don't know what does!

Getting a sticker to cap off the fun!

Afterward, we enjoyed a lovely picnic lunch on the grounds of the Bernardo Winery.
It was a beautiful sunny day!

Giant bench swing!
Fun, fun, fun!
Hopefully, I'll have more dancing pictures and videos to share soon!
