Mommy is the Teacher

Today we had Friend School at our house! As I was preparing the materials earlier this week, I told Keira we were going to have Friend School at our house and she said, "I'm so excited!" At other times she's said, "Mommy's gonna be the teacher!" So cute!

Before I get to the pictures, I must thank my personal photojournalist, Mackenzie Sterling for documenting the morning so thoroughly! Thank you, Mack!

Starting the morning with the name song!
(Ethan is not pictured because he arrived later)

Dressing the weather frog in a T-shirt & sunglasses!
Yes, this is a typical San Diego winter: sunny and warm!

Introducing today's theme: snowmen!

Looking at pictures of real snowmen

Feeling the "snow" (aka crushed ice)

Brrrr

Hmmm...I wonder how it tastes?

Look at that snowman!

Let's build our own snowman!
First, you need the snowballs, then put on the eyes...

Gotta have a carrot nose...

A smiley mouth...

Buttons, of course!

Arms...

A cozy scarf...

A broom? Yes, please!

And some mittens!

Ta-da!
What an awesome snowman!!

Story time about snowmen

Activity time!
Let's build a snowman out of play-doh!

Hard at work!

Playing outside in the "snow"

S is for snowman!

Snack time!
I couldn't resist the cuteness of this snack idea!!

It went over well with the boys...

and the girls!

Story time while snacking is always a big hit!

Craft time!
Making cotton pad snowmen!

This was a great do-it-yourself project for the kiddos!

Great job, Ethan!

The styrofoam snowmen weren't as easy and needed lots of help from mommies!

Time for closing circle!
Parachute + snowballs = FUN!

Glee!

Look at those pigtails flying!

The girls "helping" clean up the circle time mats
(this sometimes turns into a playful WWF match!)

But they're always friends in the end

And friends are always handy to have around when you need to blow your nose!
Thanks, Ella!

What an exciting morning at Friend School!!!!
Thanks for coming over everyone!
