Keira had a dentist appt yesterday (her 3rd one so far in her life). First of all, I am kicking myself because I did not have my camera with me to capture the experience. I had just changed the camera battery before leaving the house and then promptly left the camera on the counter. Grrrrrr.
Anyway, the appointment went AWESOME and Keira was a star patient!!
She went right up on the chair by herself and didn't even flinch when the hygienist leaned the chair back and started examining her teeth! She got her teeth cleaned with the spinning polishing brush, she got them flossed, and she got them scraped (just a little) with that sharp scrape-y tool. She didn't bat an eyelash with any of this! I was so proud!
Then, when the dentist came in, she let her look at her teeth again with no problem! The dentist said her teeth look good and she has no cavities. We need to work harder on cleaning the inside back teeth better, which is the area that causes her to gag and promptly push the toothbrush away with her tongue!
As a reward for an excellent visit, Keira gets to have her picture up on the "no cavities" wall in the dental office and she got a goodie bag with stickers, a new toothbrush and all the usual loot.
Give me another 6 months and I'll have pictures to go along with the next shining report!
P.S. A friend just showed me the photo books she had printed from her blog. They look amazing (basically just like seeing this exact blog in print form) and it totally inspired me to keep on blogging about our life, even with mundane things like a visit to the dentist. Someday I will forget all the details and it will be fun to look back in a printed book! Now, I just have to look into ordering one myself!
