This summer, Keira participated in her first VBS!
If I had to describe her experience in one word, I would use overwhelming!
There were around 16-17 three-year-olds in her class with A LOT of activity and commotion going on at all times. So much so that she did not go into the class for the first 2 days. I was busy going back and forth between the 3-yr-olds and 4-yr-olds, so I couldn't stay in her class and help her cope with the situation. Instead, she spent the first 2 days in the nursery room, where it was very quiet and peaceful (only 2 babies there!) and she got 1:1 play-time/attention from the helpers in there.
By the third day, she must have acclimated to the situation because she felt comfortable staying in the 3-yr-olds class and she remained there the rest of the week!
Ella found some peace and quiet by reading, while Keira is taking a brief rest with Elmo and his blanket!
Outside time was a lot of fun!
And it helped that Elmo got to come too!
Giant stamp pads are awesome!
She is a trooper!
She is "getting through it" but not quite having fun yet (she'll get there later in the day...)
Bubbles are always a winner!
VBS is much more bearable when Matt is one of the teachers!
By the end of the day, Keira had come out of her shell and wanted to get up on stage for worship!
There's a smile!
Wow, that's a lot of preschoolers!
Overall, VBS was great, but a little overwhelming for Keira.
We'll see how it goes next summer when she is 4-years-old.
In the meantime, we are continuing to listen to the CD and remember that everything is possible with God!
